Position Status: Term contract up to 30 June 2019 

Hours of work: 14 hours per week, Thursday and Friday, in a job share arrangement

About the Role

The successful applicant should be enthusiastic, self-motivated and be able to investigate, resolve and provide advice in a wide range of environmental and compliance maters.  

The position is predominantly responsible for implementing Council’s regulatory role under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 and the delivery of environmental education programs. The position is also required to provide specialist technical advice and reports relating to environmental and natural resource matters associated with development applications .  

Candidates require a Bachelor degree in environmental science (or a related field) with at least three year’s relevant experience. Candidates who do not possess a degree but have extensive experience in government investigations and a demonstrated interest in environmental management will be considered. A current class C motor vehicle driver's license is required.

 

Key requirements:  
  • Undertake environmental monitoring and respond to pollution incidents
  • Implement enforcement action for matters where Council is the regulatory authority
  • Implement environmental projects including sustainability education and restoration works
  • Provide specialist advice and reports relating to environmental and natural resource matters associated with development applications or other applications
