ArtsReady currently has an exciting position available for an Aboriginal &/or Torres Strait Islander individual wanting to pursue a career in the Events and Administration industry within a Local Government setting.
The successful applicant will be legally employed by ArtsReady, but will work on-site with Bathurst Regional Council and receive an accredited Certificate III qualification (on successful completion).
Reporting to the Manager, the purpose of this role will be to support the development of Bathurst Regional Council, as part of their Events and Administration team.
ArtsReady are looking for an energetic and highly motivated Events Administration Trainee to be located in the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre, working across the Community and Cultural Services portfolio, which includes Museums and a Regional Art Gallery, on a full time traineeship basis (12 months). This role will commence in January 2019.

Key responsibilities
- Maintain good working relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Work within time constraints and respond to tight time frames to meet project and statutory requirements.
- Support the Events & Production Manager, Events Assistant with administrative support as directed.
- Attend weekly meetings and take minutes when required
- Assist on Events Site Bump Ins, Bump Outs and operationally where required.
- Manage the meetings schedules for the department.
- Archiving and document management
- Any crew duties that may be required for the Event as directed by the Site Manager and Production Manager.
- Comply with and keep abreast of any relevant legislation applicable to the performance of the duties of this position.
- Work on Events produced by other units within the Bathurst Regional Council
- Other duties as required by Bathurst Regional Council’s Event staff.
- Adhere to all relevant Council policies and procedures.
Skills and experience required
- An interest in learning all aspects of events administration & delivery.
- Able to work in a fast paced environment and manage last minute requests.
- Effective and demonstrated communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and to balance competing priorities.
- Reasonable written and oral communication skills, combined with proven ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Flexibility & availability to work some evenings and weekends where required
- Be a self-starter and able to work unsupervised after training
- Basic computer skills
